The SHA-256 hash of a block\u2019s hash must be lower than or equal to the current target for a generated <a href=\"https:\/\/opennode.com\/blog\/glossary\/block\">block<\/a> of transactions to be accepted as valid by the Bitcoin <a href=\"https:\/\/opennode.com\/blog\/glossary\/network\">network<\/a> (and eventually, get posted onto the <a href=\"https:\/\/opennode.com\/blog\/glossary\/blockchain\">blockchain<\/a>).\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The target is an important part of setting Bitcoin\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/opennode.com\/blog\/glossary\/difficulty\">difficulty<\/a>.
